| Comments: What a surprise when I answered my phone at work this week and this voice from the past asked me "are you Lynn Counts"?? Well, yes...I use to be! It has been at least 30 years since I talked to Margaret (Gifford) Howell. She informed me that 3 people had asked about me at the renunion last Saturday night....and I thought the only person I knew from BPHS was my brother-in-law Ed Carter! What have I been doing...well after being married in my twenties, I went my separate way to build a career working at Xerox for 23 years both in El Segundo and Dallas Texas. I left Xerox in 1994 during the Corporate downsizing and am currently exectuvie assistant to the CEO of a large records management company in Los Angeles. I met my husband twelve years ago through our mutual interest in boating, specially sailing. We will be married 10 years this December and I have 2 stepdaughters in Racine Wisconsin and one beautiful grandaughter. Both David and I have been very active in the boating community, David being Commodore of Seal Beach Yacht Club in 1997 and currently Rear Commodore of the Yacht Racing Union of Southern California. I am currently serving a 2 year term on the Board of Directors of SlBYC and finally mustered up enough courage to skipper our 34' sailboat in the Seal Beach to Dana Point Volvo Leukemia Regatta race this year with a crew of seven other women to place first in the cruising class. I am sorry I missed the 40th Reunion. Margaret said they had more than enough fun and she and I have promised to stay in touch and hopefully be at the next one. |
