I left Baldwin Park in 1960 when I joined the US Navy. While in the Navy after being stationed for about 17 months in South Texas, I served as a Aircraft Jet Engine Mechanic in Fighter Squadron (VF) 121, VF-21 on Sea Duty and back to VF-121 at NAS Miramar in San Diego. While in VF-21 the squadron deployed to the western Pacific twice. The second cruise was mostly spent on "Yankee Station" in or near the Gulf of Tonkin off the coast of North Viet Nam. While in the Navy, I was able to take the G.E.D and then complete High School in San Diego where I was stationed. I met my wife, Berni, in San Diego and we married in 1974. I recently started a new job as a Senior Engineer at QLogic Corporation, in the Computer Systems Group Aliso Viejo, California. (Only about 3 blocks from home.) |
